There are no data about the immunity status of children with hemophilia after hepatitis B vaccination. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the antibody levels in children and adolescents with hemophilia after receiving one dose of hepatitis B vaccine. Fifty-four patients with hemophilia (37 boys, 17 girls) aged 3-18 years (mean: 10.3 ± 4.9) were enrolled to this study. All the patients received a single dose of hepatitis B vaccine and were followed for anti-HBs titer measurement and annual booster dose. Thirty-nine patients were positive (22.5%) and 15 were negative (27.8%) for anti-HBs titer. Twenty-two patients (40%) were positive for HBV DNA. Our study showed that the hepatitis B vaccine is effective in patients with hemophilia and the immune response was not altered with the disease. Further studies with more sample size and more dose of hepatitis B vaccine are needed to clarify the immune status and booster dose of hepatitis B vaccine in patients with hemophilia.Evaluation of micro- and macrovascular endothelial dysfunction in patients with erectile dysfunction.
Male erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common disorder with multifactorial etiology. Endothelial dysfunction (ED) is the most important pathophysiological feature in the development of ED and plays an important role in cardiovascular disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the micro- and macrovascular endothelial functions in patients with ED by using non-invasive techniques. Sixty-seven patients with ED and 40 healthy male volunteers were enrolled in this study. The following tests were performed on both groups: forearm blood flow (FBF) measured by venous occlusion plethysmography, systemic vascular resistance (SVR), and cardiac index (CI) measured by impedance cardiography. The microvascular endothelial functions were evaluated by using laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF). The macrovascular endothelial functions were evaluated by nitroglycerin (NTG)-induced maximal FBF.
